In an Emergency dial 911
- Dial 9-1-1
- Stay Calm
- State the type of Emergency
- Police
- Fire
- Medical
- Speak Clearly
- State the exact emergency
- Tell them your complete address
- STAY ON THE PHONE
- DO NOT HANG UP until the operator tells you it's OK to do so. The
may ask you questions or give you advice. They can also use this to find
your locations.
- If you can't talk make noise or just leave the phone off the hook - modern
911 systems can pin-point your location.
On your Cell Phone
- PULL OVER
- Tell the dispatcher exactly where you are calling from
- Be prepared to give your complete name and number (including area code)
- Use land marks and mile markers to give the best location possible
- Be patient - your call may have to be re-routed

- Consider writing your address in big letters near your phone - it helps in
an emergency.
- Keep your phone low to the ground in case you have to crawl to it
- Use a cordless phone incase you have to hide
- Put your house number in big numbers where responders can easily see it.
