shop...
- Using a fanny pack or put your wallet deep into your front
pockets
- Consider not carrying a purse
- Carry small amounts of cash
- Carry your keys, cash and credit cards separate from each other.
- Try to use a debit or credit card instead of cash. Be
particularly careful at ATMs.
While you shop...
- Park as close as you can - or at least in a well lit area of the
lot.
- Remember where you park. wandering around a lot attracts
criminals.
- Park near a busy area and leave before the store closes to be
sure you leave with others.
- Ask security for an escort
- Call a friend and talk on your cell phone if you feel like your
being watched.
- Collect all your cards and IDs when you check out to prevent ID
Theft.
- Avoid dropping packages in your car and returning to the store.
After you shop...
- When you return home make sure no one is watching you carry them
in the house.
- Don't tell people you don't know about the items you bought
On Christmas day...
- Break down boxes so would-be criminals can't tell what you
bought
- Make sure your doors are locked and alarms are set while
entertaining guests.
